The rare species has been found in Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara (TPBK). Pokok Bunga Bangkai or its botanical name (Amorphophallus Titanum Becc) is a plant from the local family (Araceae) in Sumatra, Indonesia, which is known as the largest flowering plant (compound) in the world, although records mention that its relative, A. Gigas (also local in Sumatra) can produce flowers as high as 5m.
This plant has two phases in its life that appear alternately, the vegetative phase and the generative phase. In the vegetative phase appear all the leaves and stems. Its height can reach 6m. After a few years, this vegetative organ withers and the tuber is dormant. When the food at the tuber is sufficient and the cycle is sufficient, the compound flowers will appear. When the amount of food is less the leaves grow back.
